Above: Posters advertising something, I am sure that is very interesting along the road in Delhi.

Left: Puppets from all regions of India.

The crafts museum contains a collection of traditional stalls displaying textiles, metal, wood and ceramics There are craft demonstrations and artisans sell direct to the buyer. It's part of a 'village life' complex. India has a wealth of things to see and buy.

November 8, 2004 Journal Continued:
Next stop was the crafts museum where I spent a lot of time. I didn't take that many fotos, but I did buy a few things including... a few more presents. I still haven't found what it is I really want... I am going to make a list. Salwar Kamiz was not on that list, but I found two reasonably priced ones on sale and that is what I am going to wear.

Journal Continued:
Then, shopping. Don't worry, I didn't buy that much, but I had to get an outfit. I got my duppata and pantaloons. Now, with the two at home, and the one that I already had, I am set on these outfits for a lifetime.

Oh, by the way, I am famous here. Families from all over India want their children to have their picture taken with me. Young girls of all ages, women, whole families. I didn't know that I was so famous ;)

Right: Artisan making pots at the crafts market outside the museum.

Journal Continued:
Oh and I forgot, I took a frightening rickshaw ride through the bazaar. Crossing the intersection was like a game of chicken and there I was on this precarious little thing... thinking, man this is stupid. But then next to me was the same contraption with at least 8 school kids piled on top. So I told myself not to be such a baby. To be frank I would have rather walked as there were so many pictures that I would have liked to take, that I couldn't because I was zipping right along. You may see a few foto duds because of this. The bazaar was cool, very similar to the moroccan bazaar I was at a few years ago. They seem as though they are replicas of each other. Except for the few cows that I saw grazing on...what I think was just trash.

Left: Part of the exhibition of the craft museum. Very cool!

Right: More figures from the craft museum.

Left: Outside of the crafts museum is an old carved sandstone door. Wouldn't that look nice in my backyard?
